💛 Come celebrate with us

Gloria & Steven

Saturday · December 19, 2026 · from 3:00 PM

Eventos Campestres VIP · Medellín, Colombia

Three countries, one story

A family from Vietnam. A family from the mountains of Colombia. And one Gringo Tuesday in Medellín.

✈️ Steven's road

Việt Nam → California → Medellín

His family flew from Vietnam and built a new life in America — Steven was born in the USA and grew up in California. Years later, a work-from-anywhere chapter kept finding reasons to stay in Colombia, until the road ended where it was always heading: Medellín.

🚗 Gloria's road

Fusagasugá → Bogotá → Medellín

Gloria grew up in Fusagasugá, drove up the mountain to Bogotá for university and work, then took the road northwest to Medellín for the next chapter of her career.

✨ Medellín, 2023 — Gringo Tuesday

A café table for two in Medellín — two coffees, two open notebooks, where a language exchange became a love story

🗣️ In 2023, those two roads crossed at Gringo Tuesday, a Medellín language exchange — one of us practicing English, one practicing Spanish, both pretending it was about grammar. Three years later, we're bringing everyone we love back to the city that introduced us. December 19, 2026: be in the garden with us. 💛

Departure day — most of the family flies back home. Hugs, goodbyes and safe travels. Thank you for crossing the world for us — we won't forget it.

Medellín in December

They call it the city of eternal spring — in December, it's also the city of a million lights.

🌸 Days around 24°C, evenings cool enough for a light jacket, flowers that never got the memo about winter. And every December, Medellín strings itself in lights for the Alumbrados — whole riverbanks and streets glowing for weeks. You'll be here for it.

✨ El Alumbrado — the December lights of Medellín. Consider this the city decorating for you.

📍 The venue

Everything in one place: Eventos Campestres VIP, in the green hills of Copacabana — about 45–60 minutes north of El Poblado.

🧭 The venue is a finca on country roads in Copacabana, Antioquia — no street number exists, so the map pin below IS the address. Drivers, one heads-up: the airport (MDE) is east in Rionegro and the finca is north of the city — two different directions. Plan hotel → finca, not airport → finca.

📍 Open the venue in Google Maps

🚌 There will be a shuttle from El Poblado — we’re arranging it with our planners. Pickup time and the meeting point go out to everyone who has RSVP’d, closer to the date.

🚗 Driving? Please arrive before 3:30pm. Parking sits right beside where we'll all be gathered, holds about 30 cars, and is reached by a single-lane one-way road. If you arrive after the welcome has begun, leave the car below on the path and walk up — a car pulling in is loud from the front row. You can park it properly once it's over.

Getting here

🛫 Everyone lands at José María Córdova (MDE), about an hour through the mountains. December fares climb fast — the sooner you book, the better. Tap where you're flying from:

✈️ Book to MDE — José María Córdova International, out in Rionegro. Don't book EOH (Olaya Herrera), the little airport inside the city. From MDE into Medellín: the official airport taxi is about COP 110,000 (~US$30), ride apps run similar — 35–50 minutes depending on traffic.

Where to stay

🏡 Two neighborhoods, both close to our world — and below, three hotels we'd book ourselves, one with our group code.

💛 We'll be in El Poblado ourselves, in the Patio Bonito area — most guests stay nearby.

🗺️ Where everything is (roughly)

Hand-drawn, not to scale — think drive times, not kilometres. We're not publishing exact addresses; the numbered pins are the hotels below.

El Poblado — leafy streets, café terraces and brick towers rising from the trees

El Poblado 🌆

The classic choice — most hotels, restaurants and nightlife, easy for first-timers. Lively, leafy, walkable in its center.

Laureles — a quiet tree-lined street with a corner bakery and a green canopy overhead

Laureles 🌳

Flat, green, and local — sidewalk cafés, quiet streets, and the city as paisas actually live it. Our soft spot.

🏨 Our picks

1 · York Luxury Suites — upper El Poblado, closest to us. Our group block: mention code BODAGD when booking — rooms roughly COP 567,000–1,134,000 (~US$175–350) a night.

2 · Novotel Medellín El Tesoro — beside the El Tesoro mall on the Poblado hillside; solid, comfortable mid-range.

3 · Hotel Provenza — in the heart of Provenza's cafés and restaurants; the most walkable spot of the three.

🏘️ Airbnb works beautifully here too — both neighborhoods are full of good apartments, and either one is a similar drive to the finca. Pick El Poblado or Laureles and you can't really go wrong.

RSVP

💌 Tell us you're in — we'll count you first.

We couldn't find that name — tell us below and we'll sort it out.

Good questions

👗 What should I wear?

Think "finca elegante" — garden-party elegance for warm days and cool mountain evenings. Warm neutrals, terracotta, burgundy, pinks and purples all photograph beautifully here. Please leave white and ivory to Gloria and Steven — and deep green to our people. A full dress-code note comes with the invitation.

👶 Are kids invited?

Children are absolutely welcome! Just tell us in advance — the notes box in the RSVP is perfect — so we can have a kids' menu ready for them.

🎁 What about gifts?

A happy coincidence: both of our cultures give gifts the same way. 🧧 In Vietnamese tradition it's the red envelope — cash tucked into a lucky red envelope (tiền mừng) to bless the couple's new chapter. ✉️ In Colombia it's the lluvia de sobres — the "rain of envelopes" — where guests bring their gift in an envelope for the couple. If you'd like to give something, an envelope in either tradition (or any form at all) makes us equally happy. And truly: crossing mountains and oceans to be with us is already the gift.

🗣️ I don't speak Spanish / English / Vietnamese…

Perfect — neither does everyone else. The welcome will be in Spanish (we'll make sure nobody's lost), the weekend will flow between all three languages, and the dance floor is famously fluent in everything.

🎭 What is the Hora Loca?

A beloved Latin party tradition — the "crazy hour." At 11pm, just when you think the party is winding down, it explodes instead: masks, glow sticks, confetti, drums, maybe costumed dancers. Everyone back on the dance floor. Vietnamese and US friends: nobody is exempt, and you'll understand once you're in it. Pace yourselves accordingly. 💃🕺

📸 Can I take photos?

Please do! Take all the photos you want and share them with us — we'll have a shared group album (the link will appear here, and as a QR code on the day). The welcome is in our photographer's good hands, so you're also free to just be there with us.

🌦️ What's the weather like?

Eternal spring: around 24°C by day, 15°C at night. Bring a light layer for the evening and don't fully trust the sky — it's the mountains, a brief shower is always possible.

🗓️ When should I arrive and leave?

Arrive by December 18 so you're settled in before the big day — or the 17th for a jet-lag buffer. The big day is Saturday the 19th. If you can, stay a few extra days: December in Medellín, with the Alumbrados lit, is worth it.
